SOSA Celebration for Brad Houston - Longest Member Award - Thanks for 40 years!

On Sunday June 5th a surprise Pot-luck Dinner and Awards Presentation was made to Brad Houston. He was given the Longest Membership Award for 40 years membership to SOSA. For his outstanding contribution to the sailing club and participation, he was presented with a trophy, which was a replica of his own Sailboat, a 5o5 number KC - 4423, which he sold last year, as he announced retirement from sailing racing.

The coincidence of the timing of this Award and dinner wast that it happened to be on Brad & wife Marie's 58th Anniversary. Their son Gordon & his wife Louanne kept the surprise a secret, until arriving at SOSA with about 50 members and former members from as far back as the 1960's.

A photo was presented to Brad with his boat racing in the 1987 North American 5o5 Championship Races. He was impressed, as his sailboat was moving swiftly too. To top off the evening he was presented with a cake commemorating his achievements.

Not often to you pick on one's Wedding Anniversary and 40 years Sailing Award on the same day, just by luck. I thought you might like to run a few photos I have attached that I took for the festivities. I also did the 1987 photo of the race.
