South Okanagan Sailing Association Summerland, BC

If you are looking for lakeshore to sail your dinghy boat from; a place to meet other sailors and have fun racing; a place to put yourself or children in sailing lessons, then we have the place for you: South Okanagan Sailing Association. A jewel of a sailing club in the Okanagan for over 50 years. Membership is open to anyone and all non-motorized small crafts are welcome.

Sunday drop in sailing lessons will be starting July 14, 11am - 3pm. Any members or students in Learn to Sail programs, interested in learning to race, Cansail certified Coaches will be running short race clinic before racing, and on hand to supervise and coach on the water. 12 and under must be accompanied by parent or caregiver. This is not aggressive racing - we just want to offer an opportunity to all sailors to learn a bit more about sailing, and try some new things. Cost is $20 per person, payable on the day. Please email sosalts@gmail.com for more info. No drop in on July 21 due to regatta.

** Please note that SOSA is a volunteer run club and we are trying to make our club strong and affordable for everyone. Membership fees are due May 30. Late payments are subject to a $100 surcharge. This year, as the registration system is new - you have until the end of June to pay your fees. If you are unable to use the system for any reason, please email us at info@sosailing .ca and we will help you to register and pay.

SOSA was first incorporated in 1960 sailing out of Naramata before moving to its present location in Summerland in the mid-1960's.

What We Have to Offer

We have storage space on the grounds and in the compound for dinghy sailboats and non-powered small watercraft such as kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and sailboards. Only boats that are actively used can be stored on the grounds.

In the summer we run sailing lessons offering the new CYA CANSail program (formerly Learn to Sail), for sailors from 6 years old to adults. CANSail refers to Canada's updated sailor training standards. CANSail is a leading sail training initiative to foster performance in sailing and life long participation in the sport. CANSail is designed to be a set of progressive learn to sail standards focused on providing sailors with a solid foundation of core skills. It allows sailors to learn and progress in any type of boat and consolidates key skills and solid experiences before adding complex skills.
